Since SMEs have difficulties in using tools related to industrial and intellectual property (IP), and if they use them, they do not have the resources to enforce them, the EU commission has published the measures that will adopt in the next few years to help innovative and creative European SMEs to obtain and use IP strategically.
The measures are related to:
- Facilitating SME access to IP
- Improving and developing IP pre-diagnosis services
- Funding for patents
- Facilitating the use and enforcement of IP
- A patent licensing on-line information tool to promote IP sharing and avoid unnecessary litigation
- Developing an arbitration and mediation network at European level to avoid litigation
- Creating a European system of litigation insurance for IP
